The major of Sociology in Lanzhou University is based on the society in west of china, where is the main area of "belt and road". We strive to cultivate student who will achieved the global vision, Chinese awareness and responsibility of china west. Besides, we aim to cultivate academic talents who is mastered both of the frontier of academic research and the regional characteristics of Western China's society, and who also possess leadership, cross research awareness and sociological professional research ability. Specifically, students should master the basic knowledge, basic theories and basic methods of sociology, and both have the national awareness and international vision, and the ability to carry out research and work in combination with the actual situation. The sutdents should be able to engage in relevant work in party and government organs, education, scientific research, culture, nationality, religion, news communication and other fields, as well as social organizations, welfare institutions, enterprises and other organizations, or use sociological professional knowledge to start a business independently and organize to provide social services. Students with research potential can be recommended to study for a master's degree or go to foreign universities for further study.
