From June 26 to 27, the School of Philosophy and Society of Lanzhou University and the Advanced Institute of Civilization Dialogue of Wuhan University jointly hosted a seminar on "Civilization Dialogue in the Perspective of the Belt and Road Initiative". The conference invited 58 professors, researchers and young and middle-aged scholars to discuss the philosophical connotation and practical significance of dialogue among civilizations under the vision of the Belt and Road initiative.
On the morning of June 26th, the seminar was officially opened under the auspices of Chen Shengbai, dean of School of Philosophy and Society of Lanzhou University. Sun Liguo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Philosophy and Society of Lanzhou University, and Professor Wu Genyou, dean of the Advanced Institute of Civilization Dialogue of Wuhan University, addressed the meeting respectively. The event consists of four seminars and two academic dialogues.
The first group was hosted by Li Wei and Liu Qin. Professor Wang Zhongjiang discusses whether China's spirit of "globalism" can play a role in the construction of a new world order. Professor Wu Genyou talked about the phenomenon of "generation difference" and "seed difference" in the process of civilization and its theoretical significance. Professor Wang Linwei used Heidegger's diagnosis to discuss the different forms of metaphysics developed in the East and the West. Then Prof. Jiang、Prof. Fang、Prof. Wang、Prof. Liu ,they all put forward their own views.
The second workshop was hosted by Huang Yanqiang and Fan Qinyong. Professor Gong Jun examined the Mahayana and The Mahayana from the perspective of the history of thought. Professor Wang Song has discussed the integration of Huayan's religious ideology with Chinese and Indian philosophy. Professor Sun Bangjin talked about "place" theory and civilization dialogue under the vision of multiple modernity. Professor Ma mingxian believes that the most basic and common value in western, Chinese and Islamic civilizations all advocate "love". After that,Prof. Shen、Prof.Peng、Prof.Zhang、Prof.Tian、Prof.Ma、Prof.Xualso expressed their views on the theme.
The third group was chaired by Sun Bangjin and Shen Ting. Professor Yang Wenjiong discussed dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations from the perspective of the Belt and Road Initiative. Professor Wen Yongning discussed the interaction between Sufi and Quanzhen. Professor Ding shiren analyzed the characteristics and origin of Chinese Islamic philosophy. Professor Zhou Chuanbin discussed the cross-cultural dialogue between The Qing Dynasty Quanzhen Taoist Longmen-faction master Liu Yiming and Islam. Professor Ma,Professor Zhang and others discussed their views.
The fourth group was hosted by Peng Zhanguo and Wang Linwei. Professor Jing Haifeng compared classics with biblical hermeneutics. Professor Gao Huaping believed that the dialogue between Mohism and Western learning is a new channel of cultural exchange between China and the West. Professor Huang Yanqiang held that Xiong Shili's "original Confucianism" is constructed in a new academic system with modernity. Later, Professor Zhang Ruiming and Professor Li Wei also put forward their own views and discussed with others.
On the evening of June 26 and 27, Six scholars, Wang Zhongjiang, Wu Genyou, Wang Song, Jing Haifeng, Gong Jun and Gao Huaping, hosted by Chen Shengbai, held a dialogue on "Historical experience and contemporary enlightenment significance of the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism".
On the afternoon of June 27, Wu Genyou presided over the closing ceremony of the seminar on "Dialogue among Civilizations in the Vision of the Belt and Road". Zhang Meihong, Shen Ting, Ding Shiren and Liao Cancan gave an excellent and brief academic summary of the two-day Cloud seminar.
