 Professor Chen Wenjiang of School of Philosophy and Society of Lanzhou University presided over the opening ceremony. Professor Sha Yongzhong, Vice President of Lanzhou University and School of Management of Lanzhou University, Professor Lin Wei, Vice President of UNIVERSITY of Social Sciences and Vice Dean of Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Chen Shengbai, Dean of School of Philosophy and Society of Lanzhou University all look forward to the smooth progress of the event.

 After the opening ceremony, the first lecture was delivered by Professor Qiu Zeqi, professor of Sociology department of Peking University. The topic was "Digital society and Social computing".  The second keynote speech was delivered by Professor Chen Yunsong from School of Sociology, Nanjing University. Its theme is "Big data and the Sociological Application of machine learning", which mainly discusses the dilemma of traditional quantitative sociology and how to use big data to conduct macro quantitative sociology research. By presenting the research cases of Professor Chen Yunsong and his team in computational social science, In this paper, we give a vivid description and deep thinking about the application of big data and machine learning from different topics.
